Goblet Cell Carcinoid Tumors - A Retrospective Study of Clinical Presentation and Survival

#308

Introduction: Goblet cell carcinoids (GCC) are rare mixed tumors, with partial neuroendocrine differentiation and intestinal-type goblet cell morphology. They usually have a highly malignant potential.

Aim(s): To study the clinical presentation, imaging, histology, and treatment with focus on prognosis and survival.

Materials and methods: A retrospective study from 1989-2009 including 25 patients (14 females, 11 males, median age 52 years (range 31-73)), referred to the Department of Medicine V, Aarhus University Hospital. Clinical, biochemical, and radiological data were obtained from patient files. Survival was studied by Kaplan-Meyer analysis.
