Impact of the extent of surgical resection on the development of post-operative diabetes in patients undergoing distal pancreatectomy for non-functioning pancreatic neuroendocrine tumours (NF-PanNET)
#4620
Introduction: Pancreatic neuroendocrine tumours (PanNETs) are often indolent neoplasms. Surgery is the primary curative approach for localised non-functioning (NF) PanNETs, but it poses a risk of long-term complications, such as diabetes, impacting quality of life.
Aim(s): To assess the role of distal pancreatectomy (DP) extent in NF-PanNET treatment and its impact on postoperative diabetes (PD) development.
Materials and methods: All consecutive patients with localised NF-PanNET (M0) who underwent DP at San Raffaele Hospital (2015-2022) with available preoperative imaging (CT/MRI) were included. Imaging and histological pancreatic measurements were performed. Patients with preoperative diabetes were excluded.
