Laparoscopic Surgery of Functioning Neuroendocrine Tumors of Pancreas

Introduction: Laparoscopic surgery is a feasible technique for benign pancreatic pathologies and has been increasingly reported for neuroendocrine tumors of the pancreas.

Aim(s): To present our successful experience of laparoscopic surgery of functioning neuroendocrine tumors of the pancreas.

Materials and methods: Six patients with insulinomas and one with VIPoma underwent laparoscopic surgery (six females and one male). Four of these patients had tumors in the tail of the pancreas and three in the body. Insulinomas had size 1.8±0.31 cm and the VIPoma 6.2 cm. Intraoperative details including operative time, total blood loss and postoperative events such as surgical complications, length of hospital stay and clinical outcome were assessed.
