Liver transplantation for pancreatic neuroendocrine tumour: A case report
#4429
Introduction: The use of liver transplantation for metastatic neuroendocrine tumours is still being explored.
Aim(s): This article reports on a patient with a pancreatic neuroendocrine tumour accompanied by liver metastasis who survived for as long as 6 years after liver transplantation.
Materials and methods: Due to abdominal pain and wasting, a 35-year-old woman had a histologically proven advanced pancreatic neuroendocrine tumour (G2) with multiple splenic hilar lymph nodes and liver metastases. The immunohistochemical staining results were as follows: AE1/AE3 (+++), CK18 (+++), CK19 (+++), CD56 (+++), CgA (+++), Syn (+++), CA (-), CK7 (-), AFP (-), CA199 (-), GPC - 3 (-), Hepatocyte (-), Ki-67 (+, 10%), p53 (-), MGMT (-). To evaluate the tumour as unresectable, from December 13, 2016, to April 4, 2018, the patient received 17 cycles of systemic treatment, "S-1 40mg PO. Bid D1 - 14+Temozolomide 200mg PO. D1 - 14", with a partial response (PR) in terms of efficacy. Two times of combined interventional therapy were performed on November 29, 2016, and December 8, 2017, respectively. In May 2018, "Orthotopic liver transplantation combined with pancreaticocaudal splenectomy" was performed.
