Malignant GEP-NET with CBD stricture and portal lymphadenopathy – A rare case report and review of literature
#4284
Introduction: Gastric neuroendocrine tumours (gNET) are neoplasms derived from enterochromaffin-like cells (ECL cells). A malignant gastrointestinal neuroectodermal tumour (GNET) is an extremely rare tumour with only less than 40 reported cases. They are rare lesions with indolent behaviour and neuroendocrine differentiation.
Aim(s): As gastric NETs represent a heterogeneous group, any discussion of their biology and management must be based on a prognostically meaningful classification. Due to the rarity of g-NET, evidence from large, randomised studies is lacking and the recommendations are based on small, uncontrolled series.
Materials and methods: A 54-year-old man presents with a history of yellowish discoloration of the skin & itching for 20 days with loss of weight (4 kg in one month). Histology confirmed it as a NET. His liver profile was deranged. An FDG & Ga68 DOTANOC PET/CT Scan was consistent with a neoplastic lesion (1? NET).
