Mediastinal Paraganglioma - A Challenge from the Surgical Point of View
#2054
Introduction: Mediastinal paraganglima are extremely rare neuroendocrine tumors.
Aim(s): We present a patient with newly diagnosed mediastinal paraganglioma causing multiple problems.
Materials and methods: A 58-year-old male with an unremarkable past medical history presented with newly diagnosed atrial fibrilation. Chest X-ray and CT scan demonstrated a 7 cm vascularised mass in the middle and posterior mediastinum adjacent to the left atrium. Distal metastases were disclosed. We proceeded to mediastinoscopy with biopsy which was complicated by hemorrhage from the tumour. Histology showed paraganglioma.
