Metabolic alterations in patients with pheochromocytoma/paragangliomas and SDHB mutations

#3767

Introduction: Pheochromocytoma/paragangliomas (PPGL) patients with SDHB mutation may have unfavourable course of disease. SDHB gene inactivation results in up-regulation of glycolytic reaction and activation of pseudo-hypoxic phenotype in preclinical studies.

Aim(s): To compare SDHB mutated PPGL (SDHBmut) patients’ progression free survival (PFS), glycemia and hepatic function with non-mutated (NoMut) and with other mutations (OtherMut) PPGL.

Materials and methods: Medical charts of PPGL patients diagnosed between 1992 and 2022 referred to NET Unit of Federico II University of Naples (ENETS CoE) were retrospectively evaluated. Patients over-65y, diabetic or with hepatopathy were excluded from statistical analysis of metabolic alterations.
