Molecular characterization of extrapulmonary, advanced neuroendocrine carcinomas and mixed adeno-neuroendocrine carcinomas – The NIRVANA study

#3879

Introduction: Extrapulmonary (EP) poorly differentiated neuroendocrine carcinomas (NECs) and mixed adeno-neuroendocrine carcinomas (MANECs) are aggressive neoplasms with dismal prognosis.

Aim(s): To identify prognostic and predictive factors and correlate with outcomes clinical, pathological, and biomolecular data through a retrospective-prospective observational database of patients with advanced EP-NECs and MANECs.

Materials and methods: Clinical and biological data of advanced EP-NECs/MANECs managed at our institute between 2015 and 2022 with available surgical/biopsy specimens were analysed. All the tumor tissues were tested by next-generation sequencing (NGS) using a targeted 26-gene panel and by immunohistochemistry for MMR. The study is approved by the IEO Ethical Committee. Data cuff-off was set on Oct 31, 2022.
