New insights into the progression of NET G3 with a focus of NETs with NEC-like transformation

#3979

Introduction: Despite increasing knowledge of the clinical and morphomolecular features of NETs G3, little is known about NETs showing NEC-like transformation. Recent studies reported that NETs G3 may share histological and genetic features with NECs, such as TP53 mutations.

Aim(s): To study clinicopathological features of NETs with an abrupt Ki-67 increase.

Materials and methods: We reviewed clinicopathological data of 85 NET patients, who were histologically examined at least twice (mean interval time 32 months). Tumors that progressed from G1/G2 to G3 were called “transit NET G3”. Their histological and molecular alterations and treatment modules were monitored.
