Non-curative radiofrequency and microwave ablation of liver metastasis to control progression of advanced GEP-NEN
#3253
Introduction: Local ablative procedures have so far been limited to curative intended treatment of gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine neoplasms (GEP-NEN). Progression of GEP-NEN usually required start or escalation of systemic therapy.
Aim(s): Here, we retrospectively assessed whether the use of RFA and MWA in a non-curative intent is a beneficial approach for patients with a single progressive liver metastasis and otherwise stable disease.
Materials and methods: Patients, who received a non-curative RFA or MWA, were included in this retrospective study. We evaluated the effectiveness of this therapeutic approach by determination of PFS and the safety by documentation of complications.
