Pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors and Diffusion weighted MRI: a better tool for detection?

#589

Introduction: Pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (pNETs) are often difficult to detect because of small size. Because surgery is curative in localized pNETs, preoperative localization is necessary.

Aim(s): To evaluate the added value of diffusion-weighted-imaging (DWI) in pNETs detection.

Materials and methods: MRI (conventional and DWI) and 68Ga-DOTANOC-PET/CT performed in patients with pNETs were retrospectively evaluated by two radiologists (more and less experienced) and by a nuclear physician, respectively. Per-patient and per-lesion detection rates (pDR and lDr) and ADC values (pNETs, surrounding and normal pancreas) were assessed.
