Pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors mimicking pancreatic metastases from renal neoplasms
#4160
Introduction: The CT-finding of a hypervascular pancreatic lesion in patients with past nephrectomy for renal clear cell cancer (RCC) or synchronous renal neoplasm is suspected for pancreatic metastasis from RCC.
Aim(s): We reviewed our series (2005 to 2022) of pancreatic Neuroendocrine Tumors (pNET) to identify patients with past nephrectomy or pNET with synchronous kidney lesion.
Materials and methods: Ten/277 cases (3.6%) of pNET entered in the study. We found 5 patients with past nephrectomy for RCC, left (4) and right (1) nephrectomy: from 8 mo. up to 27 yrs. before detection of the lesion(s). Five cases had a syncronous renal and pancreatic lesion. Two/5 cases had only a kidney surgery. Follow up to September 2023.
