Paraganglioma: Gallium-68 DOTOTATE PET CT Scanning, a Useful Addition to MIBG Scanning in Metastatic Disease
#317
Introduction: Nuclear imaging forms an important part of the assessment of chromaffin cell tumors. MIBG scintigraphy has been available for some time, while 68Ga-DOTATATE PET CT is increasingly utilized.
Aim(s): We report a case of metastatic paraganglioma where the information provided by 68Ga-DOTATATE PET CT significantly altered management.
Materials and methods: A 31-year-old male presented with right-sided abdominal pain, night sweats, and a mass in his supraclavicular area. CT imaging showed extensive para-aortic, neck, retroperitoneal and supra-clavicular lymphadenopathy. Biopsy of the supraclavicular node revealed malignant chromaffin cell tissue consistent with metastatic paraganglioma.
