Patients with neuroendocrine tumour after surgical treatment and therapy with somatostatin analogues: Comparison of body mass index (BMI)

#4358

Introduction: Neuroendocrine tumours (NET) are heterogeneous neoplasms, commonly arising in the gastroenteropancreatic tract (GEP-NET) or bronchopulmonary (L-NET). Surgery is the first line treatment, when possible, while somatostatin analogues (SSA) are the main medical therapy. However, the impact of these therapies on anthropometric indices has not been fully explored.

Aim(s): Compare changes in anthropometric indices in patients with GEP and L-NET after surgical therapy and during SSA treatment.

Materials and methods: Retrospective analysis was conducted on patients with sporadic NET treated to the ENETS CoE of the University Federico II of Naples. Data on gender, BMI, waist circumference (WC), and hip circumference (HP) were collected before surgery or SSA treatment, and then at 6 and 12 months.
