Patterns of family history of cancer and associated risk of developing neuroendocrine tumors: A cross-sectional study
#3576
Introduction: Except for known hereditary syndromes (mostly, multiple endocrine neoplasia type I and von Hippel Lindau), familial clustering of cancers in patients (pts) with neuroendocrine neoplasms (NEN) is scarcely reported.
Aim(s): We sought to evaluate patterns of family cancer history (FCH) among pts with gastroenteropancreatic (GEP) or lung NEN.
Materials and methods: Cross-sectional study of consecutive pts with GEP or lung NEN of any stage and age from the out-patient oncology clinics at our department. After signing an informed consent, pts were offered a short-structured questionnaire to assess medical history and FCH to build the pedigree chart for each family.
