Primary mammary neuroendocrine tumour: A case report and literature review
#4605
Introduction: Primary neuroendocrine carcinomas of the breast are rare, accounting for only 2 to 5% of all breast cancers. These tumours have recently been included in the latest WHO classification of breast tumours. The diagnosis can be challenging due to its uncommon presentation and overlap with other breast pathologies.
Aim(s): We present a case of primary mammary neuroendocrine carcinoma and review the relevant literature.
Materials and methods: We report the case of a 43-year-old female who presented with a progressively enlarging left breast nodule in 2023. The diagnostic workup included mammary ultrasound, biopsy, histopathological examination, and staging investigations. Immunohistochemical analysis was also performed to confirm the diagnosis.
