Primary Tumour Resection and PRRT of NEN Stage IV - Are There Differences in Grading?

#2845

Introduction: The resection of primary tumours (PT) in patients with stage IV NEN is still a matter of debate. The resection of tumours with a low proliferation index (G1/G2) is more accepted then the resection of high proliferative tumours (G3-NET / G3-NEC).

Aim(s): To find out if resection of PT with different grading (G1-G3) prior to PRRT is associated with better overall survival (OS).

Materials and methods: In 2004, a prospective database of NEN patients studied with 68Ga-SSTR PET/CT was initiated. From2004 until 2014, we analyzed the data of 889 patients with NEN (G1-3) stage IV treated with PRRT (at least 1 cycle). PT was removed in 486 / 889 patients, whereas 403 / 889 patients did not undergo PT resection before PRRT. Median overall-survival (mOS) was determined by 68Ga-SSTR-PET/CT applying RECIST and EORTC.
