Prognosis analysis of metastatic rectal neuroendocrine tumour: Liver-directed trans arterial embolisation may play a pivotal role
#4541
Introduction: Rectal neuroendocrine tumour (rNET) is prone to metastasis, and distant metastasis is associated with worse prognosis. However, factors influencing the prognosis of metastatic rNET and the recommended treatments remain controversial.
Aim(s): In this study, we explored the factors affecting the prognosis of metastatic rNET through a retrospective cohort study, and searched for clinical treatments which may improve the survival of metastatic rNET patients.
Materials and methods: Patients diagnosed with metastatic rNET between 2016 and 2023 were retrospectively included. The primary outcome was overall survival (OS), and association of demographic and pathologic data with OS was assessed with Cox's proportional hazards model. Inverse probability of treatment weighting (IPTW) analysis was introduced to minimise bias in the baseline characteristics of patients.
