Screening Benefits in MEN1-Associated Pituitary Adenomas

Introduction: MEN1 is an autosomal-dominant syndrome characterized by tumors of the parathyroid glands (95%), endocrine pancreatic-gastroenteric tract (40%), and pituitary gland (30%).

Aim(s): The aim of this study is to collect the clinical and demographic-laboratory aspects of MEN1-associated adenomas and to compare these findings with a control group of sporadic pituitary adenomas (SPA).

Materials and methods: A retrospective observation study was conduct on patients affected by MEN1 syndrome. All patients were studied through clinical and hormonal evaluation and pituitary and brain MR, then compared to a control group of 50 consecutive patients affected by SPA.
