Simultaneous Large Cell Neuroendocrine Carcinoma and Adenocarcinoma of the Stomach: A Case Report and Literature Review

#1168

Introduction: Large cell neuroendocrine carcinoma (LCNEC) of the stomach is rare. Gastric NEC occasionally has another component, such as adenocarcinoma, in the same tumor. However, the concurrent occurrence of LCNEC and adenocarcinoma at different sites in the stomach is extremely rare.

Aim(s): We present a case of simultaneous LCNEC and tubular adenocarcinoma of the stomach, and review the literature.

Materials and methods: An 80-year-old man was previously admitted to a hospital for tarry stools. EGD showed an ulcerative lesion on the greater curvature of the lower body of the stomach. The pathological diagnosis based on the biopsy was moderately differentiated adenocarcinoma. He was referred to our hospital for gastrectomy.
