Single-Institutional Review of Non-Pancreatic GI Neuroendocrine Tumors

#2015

Introduction: Neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) most commonly occur in the digestive tract with an incidence of 3.56 per 100,000 with 94% of those being non pancreatic.

Aim(s): To report the clinical characteristics, treatment modalities and outcome of patients with non-pancreatic gastrointestinal NETS treated at our institution.

Materials and methods: patients with pathologically diagnosed non pancreatic gastrointestinal neuroendocrine tumors (Grade 1 &2) treated at the American University of Beirut Medical Center (AUBMC) between 2001 and 2017 were recruited. We relied on pathology reports obtained either by surgical resection or tissue biopsy in order to identify the patients. The data were analyzed using SPSS 24.0 (IBM).
