What can a reference centre offer to patients? Evolution of first visits for neuroendocrine and endocrine tumours and its relation to clinical trials availability.

#4352

Introduction: Endocrine and neuroendocrine neoplasia (NEN), which include gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine tumours, thyroid cancer and adrenal carcinoma, have a low incidence, making their diagnosis and treatment difficult. Due to this complexity, patients should be managed at specialised centres; however, the lack of official referral networks complicates the concentration of cases.

Aim(s): Trends evaluation in first-visit patients at a reference centre for NEN. Analysis of the relationship between the number of first visits and the availability of clinical trials (CT) for this pathology.

Materials and methods: A retrospective review of the clinical records of first visits of patients with NEN in the oncology service of the HU Vall d'Hebron from 2017 to the first half of 2024 was performed. Clinical and pathological variables and the CT’s availability were analysed. Pearson and Spearman correlation coefficients were calculated to examine the relationship between the number of visits and available CT.
