Prof. Rocio Garcia-Carbonero

Rocio Garcia-Carbonero is a consultant in Medical Oncology at Hospital Universitario Doce de Octubre, where she leads the GI and NE Oncology Unit, and an Associate Professor at the Universidad Complutense (UCM) in Madrid (Spain). She is the former chair of the Spanish National Cooperative Group of NETs (GETNE) (2011-2019), a current member of the ENETS Executive Committee and ENETS Treasurer since 2020, a member of the ESMO NET Track Scientific Committee (since 2016) and the current ESMO NET Faculty for NETs. She is actively involved in clinical and translational research, with a particular focus in the development of new drugs or therapeutic strategies in the field of GI and NE tumors. She is also devoted to continued medical education in many ways; she is the director of a GETNE-sponsored Master of Science Degree in NETs at the UCM, a member of the ESMO Oncology PRO working group, and has served as Chair of the ESMO Postgraduate Course in NETs for several years (2016-2021). She has published over 180 articles in peer-review journals and has led several investigator-initiated research projects and clinical trials, including the NICE-NEC and the AXINET trials.
