#3299 Pheochromocytomas and cardiovascular emergencies: A need for high index of suspicion

Introduction: Pheochromocytoma is a rare tumor derived from chromaffin cells of the adrenal medulla, derived from embryonic neural crest cells. Pheochromocytoma affects approximately 0.3%-0.6% of the hypertensive population. Commonly, pheochromocytoma is diagnosed as an incidentalloma. The classical presentation of pheochromocytoma involves the triad of paroxysmal headaches, palpitations, and diaphoresis accompanied by marked hypertension, although this classical presentation is rarely encountered. Although rare, pheochromocytoma is also underdiagnosed. Cardiovascular emergency could be the first manifestation of pheochromocytoma.

#3298 Adrenocortical carcinoma in the context of MEN1 patients with pNETS: From suspicion to diagnosis, management and follow-up

Introduction: Adrenocortical carcinoma (ACC) is a rare malignancy arising from adrenal parenchymal cells. Multiple endocrine neoplasia type 1 is an autosomal inherited predisposition cancer syndrome characterized by parathyroid hyperplasia, anterior pituitary gland tumors and pancreatic islet tumors. Although adrenal involvement in MEN1 patients has been reported in about 40% of patients, the incidence of ACC has been reported to range between 1,4% and 6% in MEN1.

#3297 Update on the role of the robotic assisted surgery in the treatment of pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors in the context of MEN1

Introduction: Pancreatic surgery is technically demanding and robotic assisted surgery providing improved dexterity enables the adoption of minimally invasive pancreatic surgery. Pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (pNETs) are rare with an incidence of one per 100,000 population, accounting for 1%-4% of all pancreatic tumors. Minimally invasive surgery has an established role in the treatment of patients with pNETs. PNETs are the second most common manifestation in patients with MEN1. The most common type of pNETs in MEN1 is a non-functional tumor.

#3255 The role of intraoperative ultrasound in pancreatic enucleation for pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors

Introduction: Pancreatic enucleation is an extreme pancreatic sparing procedure, characterized by the absence of dissection and reconstruction, minimal blood loss, but high rates of postoperative pancreatic fistula. Pancreatic enucleation is indicated for the treatment of insulinomas as well as small non-functioning pNETs. Intraoperative ultrasound is an essential tool for pancreatic enucleation.

#3249 Active surveillance as a treatment option for pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors in the context of MEN1

Introduction: Pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors include the second most common clinical manifestation of MEN1. Active surveillance has been proposed as a treatment option for patients with small gastrinomas as well as for MEN1 patients with small non-functioning pNETs.
