Active surveillance as a treatment option for pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors in the context of MEN1

Introduction: Pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors include the second most common clinical manifestation of MEN1. Active surveillance has been proposed as a treatment option for patients with small gastrinomas as well as for MEN1 patients with small non-functioning pNETs.

Aim(s): This study aimed to review evidence on the role of active surveillance as a treatment option in the management of small gastrinomas and small non-functioning pNETs in MEN1 patients.

Materials and methods: Electronic databases were searched with the appropriate search terms up to and including November 2020.
