Adverse events after endoscopic ultrasound-guided fine-needle aspiration and fine-needle biopsy in pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors: A systematic review
#4118
Introduction: Pathological analysis of pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (pNET) is essential for predicting tumor behaviour and patient management. Although endoscopic ultrasound-guided fine-needle aspiration (EUS-FNA) is the established practice for retrieving tissue, fine-needle biopsy (EUS-FNB) offers possibilities for additional analyses including tumor grading. This systematic review provides a comprehensive evaluation of EUS-FNA and EUS-FNB-related adverse events in pNET.
Aim(s): The aim of this study was to compare the rate of adverse events after EUS-FNA vs EUS-FNB for pNET.
Materials and methods: EMBASE, OVID/Medline and Clarivate Analytics/Web of Science Core Collection were searched up to February 14th, 2023 to identify studies reporting adverse events after EUS-FNA and/or EUS-FNB in solid pNET. This study adhered to PRISMA and CHARMS guidelines, and critical appraisal was performed.
