An audit of psychological distress in the neuroendocrine neoplasia clinic

#3193

Introduction: Patients with cancer can suffer from anxiety and depression. This and the resulting effect on quality of life (QoL) has not yet been well characterised in Neuroendocrine Neoplasia (NEN) patients.

Aim(s): To analyse audit data measures of diarrhoea, flushing and general health and correlate with psychological distress (PD) manifesting as anxiety or depression.

Materials and methods: Audit data from a random selection of adult NEN outpatients was collected. Patients had completed surveys via tablets in clinic or online. Patient measures included were Patient Health Questionnare-9 (PHQ9)/General Anxiety Disorder-7 (GAD7) and the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer quality of life questionnaires (QLQ-C30 and GINET-21). Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS. The analysis performed was Kendall rank correlation coefficient. General health, diarrhoea and flushing scores were analysed alongside the patient’s corresponding anxiety and depression scores.
