Analysis of the Proteomics of Serum Circulating Exosomes in Gastro-Entero-Pancreatic Neuroendocrine Neoplasms

Introduction: Gastro-entero-pancreatic neuroendocrine neoplasms(GEP-NENs) are intractable, heterogeneous tumors, characterized by secreting serotonin metabolites or polypeptide hormones. There are currently little targets for the diagnosis and treatment of GEP-NENs. Serum circulating exosomes (scrExos) are extracellular vesicles secreted by all cells especially neuroendocrine cells to some extent, circulating in the blood with proteins and nucleic acids.

Aim(s): To explore the proteomics of scrExos as potential diagnostic and theraputic target in GEP-NENs.

Materials and methods: A total of 8 GEP-NENs patients and 8 healthy subjects were involved to detect the discrepant proteins in scrExos by iTraq analyses. Then, cancer tissues and peri-cancer tissues (>5cm distant from cancer) of 43 GEP-NENs patients were included to explore the biofunction of target protein.
