Angiosarcoma is a rare and aggressive tumor of the Thyroid. Case Report
#3315
Introduction: Angiosarcoma(AS) of the thyroid gland is a rare(2-4% of all thyroid neoplasms) but highly malignant tumor with poor prognosis. AS showing endothelial differentiation. As most visceral ASs show epithelioid cell morphology, as well as co-expression of epithelial differentiation markers(keratins or EMA), the differential diagnosis with carcinomas is challenging. Given the importance of the correct histological diagnosis for therapy choice, this is a relevant issue
Aim(s): We report a case of primary AS diagnosed in a 64-year-old woman who presented with big palpable formation on the neck. He was noted to have suspicious nodule(d.5 cm.) in left lobes of thyroid on ultrasound.
Materials and methods: Total thyroidectomy was performed.
