Contrast-enhanced and tissue harmonic endoscopic ultrasound for pancreatic neuroendocrine tumor diagnostic
#3855
Introduction: Endoscopic ultrasonography (EUS) is an examination using ultrasound and an endoscopic device, designed to image digestive tract and adjacent organs. The combination of tissue harmonic endoscopic imaging (THI) and contrast enhancement (CE) expands its diagnostic and imaging capabilities.
Aim(s): The aim of our work was to determine representative image of pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (PNETs) using B-mode, tissue harmonic imaging and contrast enhanced endoscopic ultrasound.
Materials and methods: A total of 25 patients with histological confirmation of PNET were included in this study. After locating the lesion by EUS in pancreas, recording was made after freezing the image in B-mode using THI. Subsequently contrast agent was administrated and evaluation of lesion compared to the surrounding tissue of the pancreas in arterial (10-30s) and venous phase (45-110s) was performed.
