Cystic Pancreatic Neuroendocrine Tumors. Can We Diagnose Them Preoperatively?

Introduction: Pancreatic neueroendocrine tumors rarely undergo cystic changes but they are often misdiagnosed as pancreatic mucinous cystadenoma, mucinous cystadenocarcinoma, serous cystadenoma, and solid and cystic papillary tumors, or pseudocyst.

Aim(s): We aim to find the role of CT in preoperative diagnosis of pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors.

Materials and methods: A retrospective study was conducted in Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital. 32 patients were included in the study with pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors, four of which were cystic, 20 other cystic pancreatic tumors (6 mucinous cystadenoma, 4 cystadenocarcinoma, 4 serous cystadenoma, 3 solid/cystic papillary neoplasm, 2 intraductal papillary mucinous tumor, and 1 mucinous adenocarcinoma managed operatively 2015-2019.
