Diagnosis of carcinoid heart disease continues to be late delayed

#4570

Introduction: Carcinoid heart disease (CHD) is a serious complication of neuroendocrine tumours. It affects patients with carcinoid syndrome and results from fibrotic deposits on the heart valves. It significantly impacts patient prognosis.

Aim(s): This study aims to examine the presentation, echocardiographic findings, and outcomes of CHD patients.

Materials and methods: New referrals to CHD MDT between June 2018 and July 2024 were identified from the NET Centre of Excellence’s (COE) database. Data collected included patient demographics, symptoms at presentation and details of any surgical interventions. 110 patients were identified and to date analysis has been performed on 37 patients using Microsoft Excel and SPSS.
