Ga-68 DOTA-TOC PET/CT uptake by the parathyroid glands in patients with multiple endocrine neoplasia type 1 (MEN1)

#3825

Introduction: Primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT) is the most common manifestation of MEN1. While Ga-68 DOTA-TOC PET/CT (GaPET) is increasingly used in this cohort for assessment of neuroendocrine tumors (NETs), there are limited data on its utility in assessing parathyroid disease.

Aim(s): The aim of this study was to assess the utility of GaPET in the assessment of MEN1 associated parathyroid disease.

Materials and methods: A database of patients with MEN1 attending our centre was analysed to identify those who underwent GaPET. Parathyroid status at the time of GaPET, including corrected calcium (cCa) & PTH measurement, surgical history and cinacalcet use, was analysed. GaPET images were retrospectively analysed by a nuclear medicine physician to identify increased parathyroid tracer uptake.
