GP-patient interactions and coding of neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) in primary care records

#3642

Introduction: Diagnostic delays in NETs are common with improved diagnosis times recently shown in Wales. Although studies have explored GP visits, these are based on patient surveys with recall bias and no exploration of GP coded data.

Aim(s): To explore interactions with GPs in the lead up to diagnosis of a NET and explore coded data in primary care.

Materials and methods: A retrospective study of new patients (n=114) with midgut NETs referred to the South Wales NET service since 2017. Data was collected from GP records accessible on the Welsh Clinical Portal and NET centre database.
