Localization of Sporadic Neuroendocrine Tumors by Gene expression Analysis of Their Metastases
#167
Introduction: Primary neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) are rare and often difficult to detect, leading to diagnosis late in their development. Cases in which the primary cannot be located are denoted as CUP-Syndrome.
Aim(s): NETs were investigated to find genes involved in tumorigenesis and to find a genetic signature which can allocate the metastases to their primaries.
Materials and methods: Twenty-three frozen tissue samples from 17 NET patients, including 17 metastases and six primaries, were microdissected and analyzed by array-CGH (Agilent 105 K) and by gene expression analysis (Agilent 44 K). Both experiments were performed according to Agilents instructions. Analysis-software were: Feature Extraction, CGH Analytics and Gene Spring GX.
