Malignant insulinomas - Are they all alike?

#3488

Introduction: Insulinomas are the most common functional pNET. Its malignant variant has a frequency <10% and has been poorly described.

Aim(s): Analyse the characteristics of sporadic malignant insulinomas from three referral centers.

Materials and methods: We analysed 15 patients followed between 1992 to 2020. Malignant insulinoma was confirmed by the presence of vasculolymphatic or peripancreatic tissue invasion, metastases in regional lymph nodes and/or metastatic disease. We evaluated tumor differentiation by WHO 2019, tumor extension by AJCC 2018 to pNET and ECOG score.
