Targeting CXCR4 and Thioredoxin Reductase in Theranostics of Atypical Carcinoid and Neuroendocrine Carcinoma
Introduction:
Atypical carcinoid and small cell lung cancer (SCLC) are currently incurable. There is thus a critical need for new diagnostic and therapeutic strategies for lung neuroendocrine neoplasms (LNEN). Chemokine receptor 4 (CXCR4), a G protein coupled receptor and theranostic target, plays a crucial role in metastases of LNEN. We hypothesize combination of thioredoxin reductase (TR) inhibitor represents a metabolic strategy to enhance cytotoxicity in peptide-receptor radionuclide therapy (PRRT) of LNEN.

Diagnostic Accuracy of Endoscopic Ultrasound-Fine Needle Aspiration (EUS-FNA) in the Evaluation of Pancreatic Neuroendocrine Neoplasms (PNEN) Grading
Introduction:
Prognosis of pNENs depends on staging and grading, based on the cyto-histological Ki67 labelling; EUS-FNA is considered the gold standard technique to obtain it in pre-therapeutic setting

Can Insulin-Like Growth Factor 1 (IGF-1), IGF-1 Receptor, Connective Tissue Growth Factor and Ki-67 Labelling Index Have a Prognostic Role in Pulmonary Carcinoids?
Introduction:
Altered expression of Insulin-like Growth Factor-1 (IGF-1), its receptor (IGF-1R), Connective Tissue Growth Factor (CTGF) and Hypoxia Factor-1 (HIF-1), has been implicated in tumorigenesis. These factors have not been studied systematically in Pulmonary Carcinoids (PCs).
