Metabolomic profile of extra-pancreatic NET: A novel prognostic tool?
#3446
Introduction: Reprogrammed metabolism is one of the key hallmarks of cancer. Thus, metabolic profiling of cancer patients represents a promising tool. To date, metabolomics remains largely unexplored in NETs.
Aim(s): To comprehensively characterize the metabolomic profile of NETs to functionally typify molecular pathways relevant for patients’ survival.
Materials and methods: Multiplatform untargeted metabolomic profiling was performed in plasma of 77 G1-2 extra-pancreatic NETs enrolled in the phase 3 AXINET GETNE trial (ClinicalTrials.gov Identifier: NCT01744249) (study cohort) and of 68 non-cancer individuals (control cohort).
