Metastatic mixed VIPoma/PPoma-induced diarrhoea causing renal failure

#3567

Introduction: Pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (pNETs) are rare, but despite better prognosis than other pancreatic tumors, their presentation is often occult. VIPomas are a further subtype secreting vasoactive intestinal peptide (VIP). Associated symptoms are particularly non-specific, with watery diarrhoea and electrolyte disturbance which mimics less sinister pathology. Consequently, this presentation is often overlooked resulting in tumor progression and delayed diagnosis, hindering effective management.

Aim(s): To report a case of a mixed VIPoma/PPoma presenting with renal failure, discuss its management and diagnostic pitfalls.

Materials and methods: Case report will be presented.
