Mixed Neuroendocrine-Non-Neuroendocrine Neoplasms (MiNEN): Characterization of the genomic and pathological profile
#3583
Introduction: A mixed non-neuroendocrine neoplasm (MiNEN) is a novel defined rare entity, made up of two morphologically distinct neoplastic components; one neuroendocrine type (NEN), and the other one non-neuroendocrine type (nNEN). As available data are limited, the epidemiology and controversial pathogenesis of MiNENs remain mostly unknown.
Aim(s): The study aims to shed light on the molecular basis of such a mixed and heterogeneous neoplasm, investigating its single components (NEN and nNEN).
Materials and methods: A total of 17 GI-MiNEN patients with available archival tissue material (from 2010 to date) was examined by clinical review, immunohistochemical analysis, and sequencing via the Illumina TSO500 panel.
