Multiple sporadic neuroendocrine tumours: A diagnostic challenge

#4453

Introduction: Neuroendocrine tumours (NETs) show substantial clinical and histological heterogeneity. The presence of multiple primary NETs represents a diagnostic and therapeutic challenge as clinicians have to differentiate between primary and metastatic NETs.

Aim(s): Our aim was to evaluate the clinical and histological characteristics as well as the prognosis of patients presenting with multiple primary NETs.

Materials and methods: We collected retrospectively the data of patients that were diagnosed with multiple primary NETs. The primary origin of NETs was confirmed utilising relevant to the tissue immunohistochemical markers.
