New Imaging Modalities in the Diagnosis of Phaeochromocytoma

#225

Introduction: Phaechromocytoma are uncommon chromaffin cell tumors of the adrenal medulla. The diagnostic assessment includes various radiological localizing techniques, including somatostatin based scintigraphy.

Aim(s): We present a case (for poster presentation) of a phaeochromocytoma with discordant imaging and discuss the available modalities.

Materials and methods: A 20-year-old student who was found to have elevated blood pressure of 150/100. Abdominal pain prompted US, which revealed a right-sided suprarenal mass of 4.9x3.4x4.2cm confirmed on CT. Two-year history of sweating but otherwise well. No relevant family history or drug history.
