Organoid Models of Neuroendocrine Cell Growth and Tumorigenesis

#3049

Introduction: A paucity of in vitro and in vivo models has limited the study of Neuroendocrine neoplasms (NENs). Moreover, little is known about normal neuroendocrine (NE) cells and how they contribute to NEN formation.

Aim(s): To elucidate mechanisms NE cell growth and tumorigenesis.

Materials and methods: Building on methods developed in our lab, we are generating a living biobank of patient derived organoids (PDOs) from low- and high-grade NENs. In parallel, we have established fetal airway organoids (AOs) that contain pulmonary neuroendocrine cells (PNECs) and their precursors.
