Pancreatic proinsulinomas - Single-center experience

#3125

Introduction: Proinsulinoma is an extremely rare pancreatic neuroendocrine tumor that produces hormone proinsulin. Symptomatic of these tumors is still unclear. There are insufficient data about them in the world literature.

Aim(s): To tell about our experience in description and surgical treatment of patients with proinsulinoma.

Materials and methods: Since 2017 10 patients with pancreatic proinsulinomas were treated in our department. The proinsulinoma diagnosis was established basing on the laboratory data: elevated proinsulin level with normal or subnormal insulin level and clinical hypoglycaemia. Most of patients (7) were young females with a median age 32.
