Quality of life and gastrointestinal symptoms according to phase of disease in patients with NETs
#3410
Introduction: The focus of management in neuroendocrine tumors (NETS) is to control tumor progression and to maintain health-related quality of life (HRQoL). The EORTC QLQ-GINET.21 has been validated to assess HRQoL in NETs although with limited data in different phases of disease. The Gastrointestinal symptom rating scale (GSRS) has been used in functional gut disorders but given the predominance of gastrointestinal symptoms in NET patients it may be a useful tool in this population.
Aim(s): Evaluate HRQoL in NET patients using the QLQ-GINET.21 and GSRS in different phases of disease.
Materials and methods: This is a study of 219 NET patients seen in the South Wales NET service. Both the QLQ-GINET.21 and GSRS questionnaire are completed in normal clinical practice. Patients were retrospectively sub-divided into four phases; initial diagnosis, stable, progressive and terminal disease and their scores analysed.
