Risk of venous thromboembolism in pancreatic neuroendocrine neoplasms

#3821

Introduction: Venous thromboembolism (VTE) is a leading cause of morbidity and death in cancer. The incidence of VTE is increased in different cancers such as pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma, however limited evidence is present this risk for pancreatic neuroendocrine neoplasms (pan-NENs).

Aim(s): Our aim was to identify the rate of VTE and AT in the specific context of pan-NENs and the differences, if any, between neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) and neuroendocrine cancer (NECs) in VTE risk.

Materials and methods: We conducted a retrospective study on histologically confirmed pan-NENs evaluated at our Institution from 2018 to 2021. We collected patients’ and tumor characteristics and VTE events experienced after cancer diagnosis.
