Soluble VCAM-1 and Its Relation to Clinical Staging and Histological Grading in Neuroendocrine Neoplasms (NENs)

#1010

Introduction: Cellular adhesion molecules play an important role in tumor progression and metastasis.

Aim(s): The assessment of the endothelial cell adhesion molecule (sVCAM-1) serum levels and NEN markers (chromogranin A (CgA), serotonin (5-HT), 5-hydroxyindoleacetic acid (5-HIAA)) concentrations and its relevance in predicting metastasis and progression of NENs.

Materials and methods: Eighty-two patients with NENs, aged 25 to 81 years and 26 healthy controls. NEN markers concentration, such as CgA, 5-HT and 5-HIAA, and sVCAM-1 serum levels were assessed, and statistical analysis of the obtained results was made.
