Successfull Endoscopic Ultrasound-Guided Alcoholic Ablation of Insulinoma

#192

Introduction: Insulinomas are rare endocrine tumors. The golden treatment is surgical resection. EUS-guided alcohol ablation is a new promising method to treat those patients who are not surgical candidates.

Aim(s): We wanted to evaluate the efficacy and safety of EUS-guided alcohol ablation of an insulinoma in a patient who is not a candidate for surgery.

Materials and methods: An 89-year-old male patient was referred to our hospital because of numerous cases of hypoglycaemia. Laboratory findings proved that the patient suffered from an insulinoma. Serious cardial disease excluded surgical treatment. 3.5 ml of 98% alcohol was injected into a 6 mm insulinoma guided by EUS.
