Survival and optimal follow-up cut-off of lung neuroendocrine tumours after surgery: Experience of a high-volume centre over 25 years

#4458

Introduction: Surgery is the curative therapy for lung neuroendocrine tumours (NET). Follow-up protocols after surgery are not evidence based and factors affecting survival are not clear.

Aim(s): To identify factors affecting survival and optimal follow-up period after surgery.

Materials and methods: 637 lung NET patients who had surgery between 1997-2023 were included. Cox regression and machine learning (ML) analyses identified factors influencing survival and Kaplan–Meier (KM) was used to predict OS. Cases were matched with their respective UK life expectancy tables by age, sex and year of surgery to compare actual survival with expected survival.
