The diagnostic and prognostic value of 68Ga-DOTANOC and 18F-FDG PET/CT for thymic carcinoids

#4324

Introduction: Thymic carcinoid (ThC) is an extremely rare type of neuroendocrine tumour. There is insufficient evidence to evaluate ThC using 68Ga-DOTANOC and 18F-FDG PET/CT.

Aim(s): We aimed to estimate the diagnostic and prognostic value of 68Ga-DOTANOC and 18F-FDG PET/CT for ThC.

Materials and methods: A total of 88 ThC patients who underwent 68Ga-DOTANOC PET/CT (55 of them underwent 18F-FDG PET/CT in 7 days) were retrospectively included. The highest SUVmax of the metastatic and primary lesions and the background of the blood, liver and spleen were measured for calculation of tumour-blood ratio (TBR), tumour-liver ratio (TLR) and tumour-spleen ratio (TSR) to the final analysis. The correlation between immunohistochemical (IHC) expression and PET/CT parameters was analysed. Prognostic parameters for progression-free survival (PFS) were assessed by Cox regression analysis.
